The Hytune Van.... LDV Convoy! but with a difference!!!
So, after many plans fizzled into nothing, a van finally appeared for a reasonable price, which was already in Hytune colours (cant argue with that!!) it is smaller that we was hoping, but a van is a van, and already being in the right colours is a right touch!
the project actually fell into Darrens hands... hes more like a dell boy, but without the cheap suitcase, market stall and the batman and robin suit!!
Reasons the van was a steal was because the engine had blown up, but the van itself had done a low mileage, meaning other parts on the van were knew to be in good condition. But buying a van with a blown engine is sometimes a silly idea, unless you have another trick up your sleeve. Moments after being offered the van, a friend of darrens mentioned he had a mondeo that had been shunted up the back, but the engine was the same as the one in the van, but had a turbo and was on low mileage. The mondeo was going cheap again, so putting 2 and 2 together, we had a bargain!!!
At present the engine is almost in, and just waiting for darren to get some 'work in progress' pictures and ill post them up for all to see, then keep and eye out at the tracks for the tango mobile!!!!
Thanks
Tom

Sorry everyone ive been a little bust lately so the van is coming on very slowly, and there is a bit of a list of things to do so bare with me!!
once we have a new fuel tank and lines installed and the repaired sump pan reinstalled we have half a chance of getting it running right?!
I promise pictures will follow this post in a couple of days!!

Stop press!!!!
The Hytune van project is back on track thanks to my good mate Shane Hughes of Hughes Mini Services, we have just taken delivery of an LDV convoy SWB turbo diesel van!! To be converted into a kart transporter/race van, the deal is done and I collect it tomorrow, happy days!
Watch this space for updates!!!!

on second thoughts... lets take the battleship!!!!
Re: The Hytune Van.... LDV Convoy! but with a difference!!!
UPDATE.......................The van is progressing very nicely, we now have a quieter engine and a horsepower gain of around 15bhp thanks to the removal of a very very tired, seized and buckled viscous fan assy, it has been removed and the drive belt re-routed to avoid the failed pulley, and we have added an electric fan switched from inside the cab incase of traffic etc, the rear windows have been temporarily painted out for security and the steering box has been fettled and adjusted, the engine bay thoruoghly steam cleaned and now just a quick service and onto the fun stuff...........The conversion!!!
Keep watching here, pictures to follow!!

Oh yea, wouldn't be a Hytune conversion if we didn't make it a little bit livelier now would it?! L
Re: The Hytune Van.... LDV Convoy! but with a difference!!!
